about jeannette

I believe that mind, body and spirit work as one and that healing happens through connection - to all parts of ourself, to our lineage, to one another, to the planet, and to that which holds it all.

Are you trying to navigate a personal change - toward improved health, through a challenging life transition, or into deeper relationship with Source as you understand it..?

Or are you part of a group, a congregation, business or non-profit trying to establish relational agreements or counter-oppressive values from the inside out..?

I’d love to support you in that process.

REV. JEANNETTE BESSINGER

  • Approach

I’m Jeannette (she/her), an ordained interfaith chaplain and board-certified health coach with over 20 years of experience supporting people through challenging changes in their lives. As a breast cancer survivor and as a spiritual coach with a focus on counter-oppression, I lean into the practices of sacred embodiment and building mind/body/spirit resilience.

In my ministry and winding spiritual path, I try to stay close to the current of life itself, a kind of divine Flow that sends up blooms everywhere, furling and unfurling its petals even in the most unexpected places.

  • Experience

Earlier in my career I wrote a lot, and my books, recipes, and mind-body-spirit musings were showcased in many media outlets, including Consumer Reports, the Washington Post, NPR and NBC News.

As a bodymind speaker, preacher and award-winning teacher, I’ve been privileged to work with thousands of people from many different communities in everything from Head Start programs to yoga centers, LGBTQIA+ organizations, churches, hospitals, to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

  • Training

I began my mind/body/spirit training by studying holistic healing systems, including American herbalism, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda. I have a personal meditation practice spanning 25 years. I’m a certified spiritual director (companion), an interfaith seminary graduate with 400 hours of Clinical Pastoral Training, and have a theological MA in social change/chaplaincy.

I have extensive additional training in many healing modalities - including E.F.T., Critical Incident Stress Management, trauma-focused somatic practices, and embodied activism. I’m a graduate of Columbia University and hold multiple food certifications from progressive nutrition institutions.
