Channing Memorial in Newport, RI, one of the churches where I regularly guest speak, hosted some recorded services during quarantine. In this one I share a short homily (about 15 minutes long) with an overview of a few approaches to cultivating resilience for challenging times.
Here is a summary of the Unitarian Universalist service:
During periods of great unrest or change, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Relying solely on left-brained strategies to restore order or regain control can often backfire and increase, rather than decrease, our stress. On the other hand, increasing our capacity to flow with challenging situations – rather than trying to contain them – can invite qualities of grace and power into our responses. Join us as we share a range of different ways to build our individual and collective resilience to meet these unique times.
